Hi there fellow Malaysian,
First of all would like you guys to know I am a Malaysian personally from Penang. I do provide services in converting Malaysian license to UK, if anyone is interested please do not hesitate to contact me at jonathan_browden@yahoo.com. Still skeptical and worried, no worries we can meet up if you want to. I'm currently staying in Bristol and if you are in Bristol area in the radius of not more than 20 miles away from me (city center), I do not mind driving there to meet you.

Hi JT,
Thanks for dropping by FromMY.
Normally the agents will convert your Msian driving license to HK then back to UK. You need to hand over your passport to them because they need it to apply L license in UK.
It's extremely dangerous to do so and I would advise you to go for the test instead.
I spent £334 including £50 provisional license, £31 theory test, £152 driving lesson (9 hours), £40 using instructor car on test day, £61 practical test. Took me roughly 3 months to complete all these.
Normally agent will charge you between £250-350 for converting your license from MY to UK.

Hey there..
I'm kinda curious right as how do you go about converting the full Malaysian Licence (CDL I think) to a HK Licence?..I get the part where once you've converted to a HK Licence, you're then eligible to apply for a British Driving Licence with DVLA (which should be valid for 10 years) having provided that you've already applied for the Provisional Licence (£50?)..Right?
..Correct me if I'm wrong..By the way, will there be any further charges/processing/postage fee when you are applying for the British Driving Licence once you've already obtained the HK Licence + Provisional Licence from DVLA?..
Coming back to my initial question, I'm supposed to fly out to HK probably somewhere next month (form KL), and since I'm there, if its possible, I'd prefer to do the licence conversion thingi myself rather then go about handing over my passport to someone else..Haha, alang2 dah ada dekat sana kan..But what do I need to do before going to HK?..Do I already need to have the IDP ready from JPJ?..If I'm not mistaken the IDP is RM150 which is valid for a year and can be done within 10mins or so at JPJ..Anything else I would need to do or bring along with me to HK?..Anyone with info on the ground works (office/fees/procedures) I'd need to go about when I'm in HK would be most appreciated..
Thanks in advance guys..

Hi all,
Have anyone here (non-British), have any experience in acquiring a UK Driving Licence? Personally, I think acquiring one will increase job opportunity. Please share your views, and experience, if you have acquired one.
Thanks.

Right... i've tried to book for a practical test and they said the only available slot is somewhere in july coz the rest of the weeks before that is fully booked! that is too much time and money wasted i cant bear. a hongkong friend of mine is going back for a holiday for 2 weeks in may and so im taking the chance to do the conversion magic.
the question is, i have downloaded the appropriate forms and filled them in. A few things bother me:
1. Is it ok not to have a hongkong stamp on my passport? i only pass my passport for him to bring over so there will be no record of me entering HK at all!
2. On the application form, they ask for a Hongkong identity number.. can i leave this blank as i have not had one?
3. They also ask for a correspondence address in Hongkong. is it ok to use my friend's address?
Hopefully i will get some answers regarding this coz not being able to drive is driving me nuts!
