Hi All,

I'm traveling back to UK soon & planning to bring back the Chinese New Year cookies + Dried cuttlefish strips
After checking the guidelines on UKBA website, i think that CNY cookies are grouped under Dairy Products which are not allowed into the UK.

'Dairy products include fresh, dried or concentrated milk, cream,
butter, ghee, mithai, cheese and products containing fresh cream.' - UKBA < Bringing Food Into the UK >

I'll be flying in from Birmingham International Airport. I was told that the baggage checking at the immigration in this airport is less strict than London Heathrow.

Shall i risk it & bring those cookies with me?

Hi,

I think the way they check it is either you bring a large quantity of items and they spot it while scanning through or they will send dogs to detect it. I did bring some cookies before and I also fly to Birmingham International Airport. The UKBA did not spot anything and I did not see any dogs around.

However my friend was unlucky when he brought "Ba Gua" to UK. The dog detected and he was given a warning.

In my opinion I guess should be fine. I have friends who ask their parents to send cookies to UK and they managed to get it too. But don't blame me if you get caught. Haha Posted Image
